Bridesmaids & Junior Bridesmaids
 
Bridesmaids & Junior Bridesmaids
 

The average formal and semi-formal wedding includes four to six bridesmaids.  The best choice for Bridesmaids and Junior Bridesmaids are close friends and relatives, and older children if it is a second marriage. 
 
Junior Bridesmaids are usually between the ages of 8 and 15 years old.
 
Bridesmaids
  • Assists the maid of honor in planning the bridal shower (and participates and contributes to it).
  • Helps bride and maid of honor select the bridesmaids dresses.
  • Attends pre-wedding activities (bridal showers, bachelorette party, etc)
  • Purchases own wedding attire and accessories (dress, shoes & accessories).
  • Attends the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
  • Pays for own travel expenses and/or lodging if living outside the area.
  • Assists the bride with errands and addressing invitations, if requested by the bride.
  • Arrives at the bride's home or dressing site 2 hours before the ceremony for photos.
  • Gives a wedding gift to the bride & groom.
  • Arrives dressed at the ceremony site 1 hour before the wedding for photos.
  • Walks behind the ushers in order of height during the processional either in pairs or in single file.
  • May stand in receiving line.
  • Sits next to ushers at the head table.
  • Dances with ushers and other important guests.
  • Encourages single women to participate in the bouquet-tossing ceremony, and participates, if single.
  • May help the ushers decorate the getaway car.
  • May help with the decorating of the reception site.

Junior Bridesmaids
  • Attends pre-wedding events (bridal showers).
  • Purchases own wedding attire and accessories (dress and shoes).
  • Walks in procession with bridesmaids.
  • Stands in front with bridesmaids during the wedding ceremony.
  • May or may not be in receiving line.
  • Arrives at bride's home or dressing site 2 hours before the ceremony for photos.
  • Attends rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
  • May help bridesmaids with wedding tasks.
