Leslie & Brendan were the Special Event Network's 2005 wedding giveaway couple and they were married on Saturday, February 19 in the theatre of the Clemens Center, Elmira, following the 2005 Wedding & Special Event Extravaganza. A reception with family and friends followed at the Radisson Hotel Corning.
Their Engagement Story
Leslie and Brendan first met on January 26th, 1992, on Leslie's 12th birthday. She had a huge fat lip from playing hockey that morning. Her uncle was having a Superbowl party that day and Brendan's family was invited. They met at the party and were instant friends...and despite the fat lip, Brendan thought Leslie was pretty cute.
In fall of 1993 when they were 13, Brendan invited Leslie to go to the Hilltop Inn with his family. After dinner Brendan took Leslie out onto the balcony. He had been waiting for this all night. They were talking, looking over the city and Brendan turned to Leslie and asked "Would you ever kiss a boy with braces?". She said "Yes" although she did not mean right then! But he did anyway and scared Leslie to death! She broke up with him shortly after because she was so scared...but the breakup didn't last long...
In addition to the on and off years of puppy love from the time they were 12, they have been a dedicated couple since October 1st, 1996.
Brendan proposed to Leslie on Monday, March 28th, 2004. The proposal took place in his grandfather's house, which they did not know at the time was the same place that his father proposed to his mother! Brendan said "I have a surprise for you" as he was handing her a little black box. Anticipating what was about to happen, Leslie opened the box, peeked inside and shut it again very quickly. Brendan looked at her with confusion and said "Well, what is it?" It was an italian charm for her bracelet. Brendan asked again, "Well, did you read it?" and Leslie responded "I think so." Brendan presented Leslie with another small black box and asked her to open it and she couldn't. As Brendan got down on one knee, he opened the box for her and said "Leslie Marie, will you marry me?" She fell to the ground with him as they laughed and cried...and she said "Yes!" of course!
