Wedding favors are souvenirs and tokens of gratitude that you give your guests for sharing your wedding celebration.
The tradition of giving wedding favors has been around for many centuries. Fruit and nuts (especially almonds) and biscuits were the very first wedding favors.
Favors were usually presented at the church so that they could be enjoyed during the festivities.
At Roman weddings, nuts and cereal grains were thrown for fertility and white sugared almonds were generously distributed in ornamental boxes.
In the 16th century, brides attached love knots to their gowns. Traditionally, 3 knots are said to represent the bride, groom, and a future child. Sometimes knotted ribbons from the bride's bouquet were cut into tiny pieces and given to their guests, especially those who were unmarried. From Shakesperean times on, the highly symbolic knot took other physical forms.
During the romantic Elizabethan era, men and women decorated their wedding apparel with fancy colored ribbons which signified the strength of the wedding union.
Silver or gold ribbons were used if the wedding was royal while white and blue ribbons were used for all others.
Those lucky enough to be invited to the wedding of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, received a favor made of white satin ribbon embellised with silver lace.
Favors add a festive feeling to weddings as well as promising good luck for the bridal couple.
Whether your favors are casual or elegant, they are a nice way to give your guests an additional thanks you for sharing your special day.
You can personalize almost any wedding favor with your names and wedding date by ordering imprinted ribbons or cards.

Sayings for Bubbles
Rice may be tradition
But bubbles are more fun
To wish the newlyweds well
As their new life had begun!

Sayings for Bells
Ring this bell loud and clear
when you see Grace and Ken appear..
Ring out for joy for their new life,
ring for laughter, ring for a kiss,
and ring that this couple
will always find bliss.

These fleeting moments soon will pass,
no rice, seeds or balloons alas!
So take this tiny wedding bell,
a sign of love, you can tell.
Ring it loud and ring it clear,
when the Bride and Groom appear!
Bring it to the reception too,
a kiss of love we'll share for you!

Take this tiny gold wedding bell,
a sign of love, you sure can tell.
Ring it loud and ring it clear,
when you see Heidi & Dieter appear!
Ring it during dinner, too,
a kiss of love they'll share for you!
